The 3rd Annual Murfreesboro Half Marathon and Kids Fun Run was a great success! Congratulations to all the runners!
Named Murfreesboro’s “Favorite Annual Event” in 2009 by The Daily News Journal, “The Middle Half” is anticipated by runners and fans alike. In just 4 years, the race has doubled in size to become one of the top half marathons in Tennessee, winning the Tennessee Parks & Recreation Four Star Program Award in 2008.
With the flat, fast course, it’s no wonder that seven state road running records have been broken here.
The 13.1 mile course has you running up and down tree-lined Main Street, past historic Oaklands Mansion, and circling the Downtown Square. After passing Middle Tennessee State University’s Fraternity Row and the official geographic center of Tennessee, finish in style on the track inside MTSU’s Track and Soccer Stadium.
Here’s what you’ll get:
- Flat scenic course
- Award-winning event
- Gender-specific tech shirt
- Plenty of free parking
- Post-race snacks and celebration
- ChampionChip timing
- Finisher’s medal
Why is it called “The Middle Half?”
First of all, it takes place in Middle Tennessee, with the course passing by the geographic center of the state. The presenting sponsor is Middle Tennessee Medical Center. And the runners start and finish at Middle Tennessee State University.
Best of all, the person crossing the finish line in the middle of the pack receives an award, “The DNJ Middle Medal.” Plus, it’s just fun to say!
