These regulations are for the safety of all race participants. The Murfreesboro Half Marathon reserves the right to disqualify and remove anyone from the course who does not conform to these rules.
Age Limit | Condition
You must be at least 14 years of age, in good health and physically prepared on race day to participate in the half marathon.
Refunds | Transfers
The Murfreesboro Half Marathon maintains a NO TRANSFER policy. Do not sell or give away your bib number/registration. Registered athletes who sell or allow another runner to use their bib number may be banned from future Murfreesboro Half Marathon events. Particular participant information is attached to each bib number, and half marathon staff cannot be held responsible for medical liability or other error should a runner participate under another individual’s predetermined bib number.
Course Time Limits
The following course time limits will be strictly enforced to ensure roads along the course reopen at the scheduled times.
Athletes must be at Mile 6 no later than 90 minutes after the last person crosses the Start line (15-minute/mile average pace). Any participant not at Mile 6 within 90 minutes of the start will be returned to the finish area by race officials and will not be allowed to cross the finish line nor receive a finisher’s medal.
The course will reopen to traffic as the roads are clear of participants. The entire course will reopen to traffic at 10:30 a.m. The race officially ends 3.5 hours after the start (gun time).
Walkers
Walkers are welcome provided the course time limits are met. Walkers should line up at the back of the starting lineup behind the runners. As a courtesy, please move to the right side of the course to allow faster participants to pass. All walkers and runners must be at Mile 6 no later than 90 minutes after the start of the race. Any participant not at Mile 6 within 90 minutes of the start will be returned to the finish area by race officials, and will not be allowed to cross the finish line.
Bib Numbers
Bibs must be worn on the FRONT, visible at ALL TIMES while on the course for timing accuracy.
Personalization (name, nickname, or team name) is available for your race bib, up to 14 characters. Personalization must be ordered at the time of registration, either online or on the paper form.
Timing
Your official time will be recorded by a ChronoTrack Systems B-Tag provided by BestTimes ChampionChip Tennessee, Inc. Your B-Tag will be attached to your Runner (bib) Number which you will receive at Packet Pickup. You must attach your bib to the front of your apparel before the start of the race. The B-Tag must be worn properly from the start to finish in order to receiving an official finish time.
The timing device is NOT TRANSFERABLE and must be worn only by the participant to whom it was assigned. If you drop out of the race, please notify a course official. You will be transported to the MTSU track. Do NOT cross the finish line. Personal timing devices (ChampionChips) may not be used.

Coaches
Coaches or team leaders may NOT accompany their team on bicycles; they must be registered with bib numbers and begin the race at the start.
Headphones
The use of personal music devices is strongly discouraged at this race. To enjoy all that our race has to offer and for the safety of all participants, the Murfreesboro Half Marathon encourages a headphone-free environment during the running of The Middle Half.
Running Without Headphones
We believe your race experience and those around you will be greatly enhanced by leaving the headphones at home or in the car. Running headphone-free allows opportunities to develop camaraderie with your fellow runners and to enjoy everything the race has to offer. Plus, volunteers and spectators will be on course cheering you on and providing directions to help get you to the finish line.
